The Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) is a monumental transportation policy that has begun to outline transportation policies and regulations while influencing new infrastructure in the United States. According to the Department of Transportation (1998), TEA-21 is a â€Å"landmark† act â€Å"improving safety, protecting public health and the environment, and creative opportunity for all Americans.† Such policies and regulations are important in order to maintain the economy while protecting workers, consumers and the environment. TEA-21 focuses on revolutionizing the transportation industry by implementing more universal, preventative safety measures, stricter environmental and public health regulations while creating more†¦show more content†¦With the American economy slowly on the rise, TEA-21 provides regulations to further stimulate the economy by implementing low-cost transportation methods that are dependable. According to the Depart ment of Transportation (1998). TEA-21 â€Å"†¦supports trade and security† at the nation’s borders, â€Å"efficient transportation† and provides â€Å"support† for â€Å"university-level education and research programs† at university transportation centers. TEA-21 is monumental in improving various aspects of the transportation process and systems to make transportation more efficient and resourceful, which is analogous with my vision of the regulation. Although TEA-21 encompasses a vast array of transportation, it’s an extensive regulation that may be difficult to fully implement. I think it is a much needed step toward the improvement of transportation methods and processes that will benefit all Americans. My vision of the regulation includes having several teams and groups to implement the various aspects and components of the TEA-21. TEA-21 will allow for increased safety for all people, for everyone is involved in the transportation process whether recreationally or professionally. It provides a national protocol for all states to adopt to ensure the universal implementation of safety procedures.
